Amphetamine is a syntomathomimetic amine whose biological effects include potent central nervous system stimulation, appetite reduction, hyperthermia, insomnia, increase in heart rate, increase in blood pressure, and the feeling of euphoria. The amphetamine are excreted in the urine in unchanged form.
This drug under prescription is used to diminish the appetite, control weight, and treat disorders including narcolepsy and attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder.
The H&R AMP Test is lateral flow, one-step immunoassay for the qualitative detection of amphetamine in human urine at the following cut-off concentrations:
AMP Amphetamine 1000ng/mL
This assay provides only a preliminary analytical test result. A more specific alternative chemical method must be used in order to obtain a confirmed analytical result. Gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GS/MS) has been established as the preferred confirmatory method. Clinical consideration and professional judgment should be applied to any drug test result, particularly when preliminary positive results are indicated.
